About Mount Nemrut

A kingdom on a mountaintop

In the 1st century BC, King Antiochus I of Commagene built his tomb-sanctuary on the summit of Mount Nemrut, guarded by huge statues of himself and the gods. Watching the first light reach their faces is an unforgettable moment. The summit is best visited from spring to autumn.
