Day by day

Your itinerary

  1. Day1

    Arrival in Istanbul

Welcome to Istanbul. Your driver meets you at the airport and takes you straight to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours: a first walk through the old streets, a glass of tea, and the call to prayer drifting across the rooftops at dusk.

    Overnight in Istanbul

  2. Day2

    Historic Istanbul

A day with your guide among the great monuments of the old city. Stand beneath the dome of Hagia Sophia, step into the Blue Mosque, walk the old Hippodrome and descend into the cool, columned half-light of the Basilica Cistern. End in the lanes of the Grand Bazaar, where bargaining is half the fun.

    Overnight in Istanbul

  3. Day3

    Istanbul: culture and local life

Today is about the city's quieter, everyday side. Wander the colourful, steep streets of Fener and Balat, visit the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and discover corners of Istanbul that most visitors walk straight past.

    Overnight in Istanbul

  4. Day4

    Istanbul at your own pace

A free, relaxed day shaped around you. Cruise the Bosphorus between Europe and Asia, spend a morning in a museum, browse the spice and food markets, or simply sit by the water with a plate of fresh fish. We are happy to suggest and arrange whatever appeals.

    Overnight in Istanbul

  5. Day5

    Istanbul to Cappadocia

A short domestic flight takes you to the heart of Anatolia. Your private transfer brings you to your hotel, with a first look at a landscape that hardly seems real: rock chimneys, carved valleys and cave houses glowing gold in the late sun.

    Overnight in Cappadocia

  6. Day6

    Cappadocia

A full day exploring the region with your guide: the painted rock-cut churches of the Göreme Open-Air Museum, the castle rock of Uçhisar, the fairy chimneys of Paşabağ and Zelve, the potters of Avanos and the best panoramic viewpoints. Early risers can float above it all at sunrise on an optional hot-air balloon flight, subject to weather and availability.

    Overnight in Cappadocia

  7. Day7

    Cappadocia to Konya

Drive west across the open plains of central Anatolia to Konya, once the Seljuk capital. Visit the Mevlana Museum, resting place of the poet Rumi and home of the whirling dervishes, and get a feel for the city's deep spiritual heritage.

    Overnight in Konya

  8. Day8

    Konya to Antalya

Cross the Taurus Mountains and descend to the Mediterranean. In the afternoon, explore Kaleiçi, Antalya's old town of Ottoman houses and narrow lanes, and walk down to the old Roman harbour as the evening lights come on.

    Overnight in Antalya

  9. Day9

    Antalya: ancient cities

Visit Perge, with its long colonnaded street and vast stadium, then Aspendos, home to one of the best-preserved Roman theatres in the world. Back in Antalya, the rest of the day is free to enjoy the old town and the sea.

    Overnight in Antalya

  10. Day10

    Antalya to Pamukkale

Head inland to Pamukkale, where mineral springs have built a hillside of dazzling white travertine terraces. Walk barefoot on the warm, shallow pools, then explore the ancient spa city of Hierapolis on the plateau above.

    Overnight in Pamukkale

  11. Day11

    Pamukkale to Selçuk or Kuşadası

Continue towards the Aegean coast. Depending on timing, stop on the way at Laodicea, one of the Seven Churches of Revelation, or another site nearby. Arrive in Selçuk or Kuşadası in time for a relaxed evening.

    Overnight in Selçuk / Kuşadası

  12. Day12

    Ephesus and Christian heritage

A day for one of the great cities of the ancient world. Walk the marble streets of Ephesus to the Library of Celsus, visit the House of the Virgin Mary in the hills, the Basilica of St John and the lonely column of the Temple of Artemis. Finish in the hillside village of Şirince for a taste of local life.

    Overnight in Selçuk / Kuşadası

  13. Day13

    Selçuk to Bodrum

Follow the Aegean coast south to Bodrum. Explore the old town with its whitewashed houses, stroll along the marina and the waterfront beneath the Castle of St Peter, and toast the end of your journey with dinner by the sea.

    Overnight in Bodrum

  14. Day14

    Departure

A private transfer takes you from Bodrum to İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport for your onward flight, with two weeks of Turkey to remember.
